Authorities Identify Victim Killed In Wilmington Fire, Building Collapse

WILMINGTON, Del., (CBS) – Authorities have identified the male victim of Monday night's house fire and building collapse in Wilmington, Delaware.

Fire officials say the fire broke out around 10:30 p.m. Monday on Bird Street (See Previous Story). It was big enough to be seen at least 10 blocks away and took nearly 70 firefighters about an hour to extinguish.

One man, who authorities identify as 48-year-old Lamotte V. Scales, was killed.

Two women were taken to the hospital with burns and smoke inhalation.

Officials say a 49-year-old woman remains in critical condition in the burn care unit at the Crozer-Chester Medical Center.

A 37-year-old woman remains in stable condition at Christiana Hospital.

Officials say the cause of the fire is still listed as undetermined.

The Wilmington Fire Marshal's Office continues to investigate.
