Stigall On IRS Claims: Why Is It Only Republicans Seem Concerned?

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – On Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, Chris Stigall objected to the IRS claiming they've lost two years worth of emails sent to and from Lois Lerner, the former head of the IRS division on tax exempt organizations. Lerner has been accused of targeting conservative groups for increased scrutiny after filing for tax exempt status.

Stigall said everyone should be incensed about what is going on at the IRS.

"Why is it only Republicans that seem concerned about it? Why is this suddenly a Republican issue? Why are only Republican members of the House looking into it? Why, because you haven't been the focus of an audit yet? You sit there cockily wherever you are, thinking, 'Well, it doesn't bother me. It's those wacko tea party groups, I don't care.' Well, that's a great laissez-faire attitude to have until someone you don't like is running the IRS and they come after you," he stated.

He said it is only a matter of time before the political winds in Washington shift and different groups are targeted.

"If this is the precedent we want to start in this country, where the IRS becomes an extension of the political apparatus, okay, but the political apparatus does change. You've been warned. If you're sitting around on your dead ass saying, 'Oh, it's a Republican witch hunt,' well, you're stupid. There is nothing more to say," Stigall commented.
