Victim Jumps Out Window After Shots Fired During Brazen Del. Home Invasion
DOVER, Del. (CBS) – Delaware State Police are investigating a brazen home invasion where shots were fired.
Police reported to a home in the unit block of Becky Lane in South Dover at about 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday after a 9-1-1 call was placed by a neighbor who heard gunshots from the house next door and saw a man exiting the home.
An investigation revealed that a 28-year-old female and her 11-month-old baby were sleeping in the master bedroom when two subjects – one armed with a handgun – forced their way into the home and confronted the woman in the bedroom.
The two men demanded money from the victim and asked for a specific person who resides at the home but was not there at the time.
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old man who was sleeping in a separate bedroom awoke to the noise and entered the hallway. The armed man then fired his gun at the male victim, who reentered the bedroom and jumped out his window as he was shot at once more.
That man then ran to a nearby Royal Farms, where he was able to call the Kent County Emergency Operation Center.
The two black male suspects were observed fleeing the scene in a dark-colored four door vehicle. They were unable to take any money from the victims.
Police say the 28-year-old female and her daughter were uninjured in the home invasion, but the male victim was treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries sustained from jumping out the window.
