Dump Trucks Collide Head-On In Atlantic County

By Steve Beck, Al Novack

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) -- Police are investigating what led to the head-on collision of two dumps trucks in Atlantic County Wednesday morning.

The crash happened at about 4 a.m. on Route 50 near South County Boulevard in Hamilton Township, New Jersey.

Investigators say the drivers of the dump trucks were taken to a local hospital, but their conditions were not immediately known.

As a result of the crash, there was a diesel fuel leak, but it has since been 100-percent contained.

Route 50 was closed for several hours while police investigated the crash and crews cleaned-up the scene.

The cause of the head-on collision remains under investigation.
