Police: Dover Man Offered Teen Chance To Drive His Car In Exchange For Sex, Then Strangled Her During Subsequent Argument

DOVER, Del. (CBS) – A Dover man is accused of attempting to solicit sex from a teen and then strangling her in a subsequent argument.

According to Dover police, Oliver Lee Hicks, 48, offered the 14-year-old female the opportunity to drive his car on June 9th in exchange for sex.

The victim refused and was able to flee the area. She told an adult about the incident, and Hicks accused her of lying.

A physical altercation reportedly ensued, and Hicks is said to have grabbed the girl around the neck, impeding her breathing and circulation.

Police were called to the scene on the 300 block of Frear Drive in Dover, where they arrested Hicks.

Hicks is now facing charges of Strangulation and Sexual Solicitation of a Child. He is being held on $20,000 secured bond.
