SICKLERVILLE, N.J. (CBS) — Police have arrested a suspect in the shooting of a man in Winslow Township, New Jersey.

Authorities were called the Wawa along 400 Sicklerville Road in Sicklerville around 2:30 a.m. Sunday for reports of a fight in the parking lot and a man armed with a handgun.

Responding officers noticed a car speeding from the area near the Wawa and during the attempted traffic stop, police say, someone inside the vehicle threw a 9mm handgun out the window.

The car eventually stopped, the occupants inside were secured and police located the discarded weapon.

Police say other officers found a 26-year-old man in the Wawa parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to Cooper Hospital where he was treated for the injuries.

The victim’s identity was not released.

An investigation of the shooting led to the arrest of Lameen Adams, Jr. of Lindenwald, New Jersey.

Adams was charged with aggravated assault, hindering apprehension and multiple weapons violations.

He was being held at Camden County Jail on $100,000 bail.
