Police Seek Public's Help To ID Body Found In Waters Between Sea Isle City, Avalon

SEA ISLE CITY, N.J. (CBS)Detectives from the New Jersey State Police Major Crime Unit are seeking the public's help in identifying an unknown man recovered from the Atlantic Ocean.

According to police, the body was recovered about one mile off shore in the area of Townsends Inlet, Cape May County.

At 7:51 a.m. Monday, a Captain of a marine vessel traveling from the Bahamas to Connecticut advised that he had seen the body of a human being floating in the water in that area. The United States Coast Guard and New Jersey State Police Marine Services Bureau responded to the location and retrieved the body from the water.

Police say the victim is identified as an Asian male, about 50 to 65-years-old, of slight build, wearing black dress pants, a gray thermal long sleeve shirt under a blue button down shirt.

The man had artificial dental prosthesis on his lower bite and no teeth on is upper bite. He had no identification. Investigators believe the man may have been swept away in the outgoing tide Monday morning or Sunday evening.
