CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) – A hit-and-run in Camden, New Jersey left one man dead on Memorial Day, and police are searching for the driver.

Police have identified the victim as 58-year-old Lawrence Stark, of Clementon, New Jersey.

Authorities say Stark was walking on the 1500 block of Pershing Street when he was hit by a dark blue or black four-door SUV or truck around 7:00 p.m.

Witnesses told police that the driver briefly stopped, then fled the scene. The vehicle reportedly has packing tape on the driver’s side mirror and may be damaged on the passenger side.

Stark was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Investigators say they’re looking for a Hispanic male in his 20s or 30s. The driver had a high, tight haircut and a light goatee.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office at 856-225-8514 or Camden County Police at 856-757-7420.

An investigation is ongoing.
