Driver Flees After Striking School Bus In Southwest Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are searching for the driver who fled the scene after striking a school bus in Philadelphia early Wednesday morning.

The accident happened shortly after 7 a.m. at 56th Street and Lindbergh Boulevard in Southwest Philadelphia.

Investigators say the driver of a black Cadillac was driving at a high rate of speed when it struck the left rear of a yellow school bus. After striking the bus, authorities say the driver got out of the car and ran away.

Police say three children aboard the bus at the time of the crash suffered minor injuries and were taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where they are listed in stable condition.

The search for the driver continues.

The crash remains under investigation.
