Volunteer Firefighter Accused Of Stealing And Selling Department Equipment

By Lynne Adkins

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A 26-year-old volunteer Lower Southampton Township firefighter has turned himself in to Bucks County authorities on charges he stole and sold department equipment.

Timothy Kennelly is being held on $500,000 bail.

He is accused of stealing $30,000 worth of scuba equipment, saws and other department property and then selling it to a pawn shop, which in turn sold it on eBay between January and April.

Officials say the theft was discovered when the department responded to a missing boater in the Delaware River in April, only to find that the scuba equipment was not where it belonged.
