A Violent Night Across Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are investigating several shootings in Philadelphia Tuesday night.

A shooting was reported around 5 p.m. at 50th and Haverford in West Philadelphia.  Dispatch officials tell CBS 3 a man was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with a gunshot wound. His condition is unknown at this time.

At about 6:21 p.m., Philadelphia police say a 19-year-old man was shot in the back at the 400 block of West Courtland Street in Feltonville. The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital where police say he was pronounced dead. So far, no arrests have been made.

Shortly after 7 p.m. officers responded to a report of a shooting at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in the 4100 block of Island Avenue. According to police, a 34-year-old man was shot in the face in a fourth floor hallway (See Related Story).  He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he is listed in critical but stable condition. Investigators say a person has been taken into custody.

At 8:31 p.m., police responded to a double shooting in the 2400 block of North Hollywood Street in Strawberry Mansion. Investigators say a 20-year-old man was shot in the chest and a 23-year-old man was shot in the chest and right side. Both victims are hospitalized in critical condition at Temple University Hospital.

A shooting was reported at 51st and Race in West Philadelphia around 8:45 p.m.  There is no word on injuries at this time.
