PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A bicyclist was killed when he was hit by a car in Philadelphia’s Northern Liberties section overnight.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. Saturday at 2nd Street and Girard Avenue.

Police say the man on the bike was crossing Girard Avenue when he was hit by a car heading south on 2nd Street.

The 38-year-old victim was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital where he was pronounced dead just before 3 a.m.

The driver of the car did stop. Police say there were no initial charges, but they’re awaiting results from tests for alcohol.
