Grammy-Nominated Artists To Share Tips For Getting Ahead In Music Industry

By Melony Roy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Grammy-winning songwriters, producers, and top music executives will take part in a two-day, two-city music event hosted by the New York and Philadelphia Recording Academy chapters, aimed at helping those trying to advance a career in the music industry.

GRAMMY futureNOW will bring together artists, songwriters and executives to talk about the current state and the future of the music industry.

Philadelphia chapter president and Grammy-nominated producer Ivan Barias says, "We're going to provide tools for people to maximize what they're already doing in the music industry and give them some insights from people who are very successful"

The event will feature sessions on publishing, touring, and branding as well as guest speakers from Def Jam Records, Vevo, and Billboard Magazine.

"They're going to have a panel called Disrupters who are basically young artists who are utilizing social media and the Internet to carve their niche within the music industry."

GRAMMY futureNOW takes place tomorrow at the Cira Center, starting at noon -- and tickets are still available. To purchase tickets, click here.
