Police: Stray Bullet Hits Woman Sitting On Her Steps In Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Del., (CBS) – Police in Wilmington are investigating a shooting after a 56-year-old woman was struck by a stray bullet while sitting on her steps Monday night.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. in the 400 block W. 25th Street.

Police say the preliminary investigation suggests that two unknown men began shooting at an unknown person or persons from the intersection of W. 25th and N. Madison Streets.

According to police, the woman was sitting on her front steps and was struck in the chest by one of the rounds.  Police say the investigation suggests that she was not the intended target.

The victim was taken to Christiana Hospital and is listed in stable condition.

The suspects fled in an unknown direction.
