Phillies Charities "The Phantastic Auction" Starts Friday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Ever want to have a kid's sleepover in the Phillies Clubhouse, play a video game on PhanaVision against A.J. Burnett, enjoy lunch with Ryne Sandberg in his office, or have a private hitting clinic with Chase Utley?

Starting Friday, May 2, at 8:00 a.m., fans are invited to take part in the exclusive Phantastic Auction on phillies.com. This online, 13-day event gives fans nation-wide the chance to bid on once-in-a-lifetime experiences with Phillies players and alumni, trips, memorabilia and many other unique opportunities.

And the best part: it's all to benefit charity.

The full list of 55 Phantastic Auction experiences will run the gamut and feature something for every fan. Items include clinics, golf outings and lunches with Hall of Famers, MVPs, Cy Young winners and All-Stars.

The Phantastic Auction is in partnership with SportsRadio 94WIP and Talk Radio 1210 WPHT. Phillies broadcasters will be providing a special preview of the items this Friday: Scott Franzke on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT at 8:20 a.m. and Matt Stairs on SportsRadio 94WIP at 9:00 a.m.

Last year's inaugural Phantastic Auction raised more than $129,000 for Phillies Charities, Inc., which was awarded to charitable organizations across the region.

PROCEEDS FROM THE PHANTASTIC AUCTION

The Phillies family – from the players, coaches, and their wives, to the alumni, ballgirls and front office staff – takes great pride in giving back to the community.

Phillies Charities, Inc., the charitable arm of the Phillies organization, makes gifts to charitable organizations that serve a wide variety of needs, primarily in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, and particularly those serving the Greater Philadelphia area and the communities of its minor league affiliates.

Phillies Charities, Inc. raises funds through a variety of activities throughout the year, including The Phantastic Auction.

In 2013, due to strong fan support, approximately $2 million in grants were distributed to dozens of deserving charitable organizations.

The net proceeds from The Phantastic Auction will benefit Phillies Charities, Inc., and a portion of those proceeds will be contributed to the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the ALS Association as part of the Phillies Phestival on May 19, 2014.
