Wildfire Risk Continues Thursday
By Katie Fehlinger
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Looks can certainly be deceiving!
Despite bright sunshine, an invisible hazard exists across the Delaware Valley in the form of an enhanced fire risk Thursday. The threat comes courtesy of a very dry air mass combined with a cool northwest breeze. Sustained winds will persist most of the day, topping off around 20-25 mph, with gusts peaking as high as 35-40 mph near the shoreline.
That dry/gusty combo has prompted Red Flag Warnings to take effect for the second day in a row. A refresher on what the warning means: simply put, be extra cautious with any open flame, since any fire could spread quickly.
