Former Chester County Teacher Charged With Possession, Distribution Of Child Pornography

LANCASTER, Pa. (CBS) – Attorney General Kathleen Kane announced that a former teacher at Devon Preparatory School in Chester County is being charged with possession and distribution of child pornography.

Joseph Fortunato had resigned from his position at Devon Preparatory on Monday.

According to the criminal complaint, agents conducting an undercover investigation into the online sharing, downloading and distribution of child pornography found several files of interest being made available for download through a peer-to-peer network.

The computer's IP address was later found to be serving Fortunato's residence in Lancaster.

On April 17, agents searched his home and seized a computer and external hard drive. After conducting a preliminary analysis, agents found both the hard drive and computer contained the suspected child pornography.

Fortunato has been charged with 20 counts of possession of child pornography, eight counts of distribution and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

He was arraigned this morning in Lancaster, where his bail was set at $20,000.
