Windy & Cooler On Wednesday

By Kate Bilo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- After a stunning start to Tuesday, everything changed in the evening with the arrival of a strong cold front. Storms along this boundary turned briefly severe, blasting through the Delaware Valley with winds over 50mph and some large hail. We've gotten reports of trees down across the area, in Roxborough, West Philadelphia and near Reading.

The showers and storms have moved through, however, and now we're talking about the wind. Despite sunshine and highs in the 60's on Wednesday, winds will be very strong all day and that will make it feel noticeably colder than the thermometer indicates. A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for the area, meaning that conditions are favorable for fires to spread, so any type of burning activity should be postponed. In addition, pollen counts will be quite high as the wind mixes the pollen into the air - so allergy sufferers, beware!

Temperatures will warm back up through the week, and by Friday we'll head back to the 70's - but much like today, an afternoon front will bring the chance for showers.
