PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Phillies open a ten-game road trip on Friday night as they begin a weekend series in Colorado.

After three games against the Rockies, the Phils play four in Los Angeles and then wrap up the trip with a three-game stop in Arizona.

The Phillies are 7-8 so far this season, they avoided a sweep by the Braves last time out on Thursday afternoon, grabbing a 1-0 decision. Phils currently alone in fourth place in the National League East, three games behind first place Atlanta.

Jonathan Pettibone will be on the mound in this series opener. The right-hander will be making his second start of the season. he got a no decision in his first last weekend against Miami, allowing two runs (one earned) in five innings of work.

This will be Pettibone’s second career start against the Rockies. The other came last year, also in Denver, and it did not go well. He allowed seven runs (six earned) in just three innings of work, losing 10-5. The winning pitcher in that game was RHP Tyler Chatwood, and he will be on the mound for the Rockies in this series opener.

KYW’s Matt Leon spoke with Kevin Cooney of the Bucks County Courier Times about the Phillies first 15 games and what to expect on this trip.
