Burlington County Man Charged With Murder After Allegedly Running Down Brother With Car

WILLINGBORO, NJ (CBS) – A Willingboro, NJ man has been charged with murder after police say he ran down his brother with a vehicle last month.

Lyle G. Person, 33, is said to have intentionally run over his brother, Lee Person, 31, on March 14 on Beverly-Rancocas Road.

The Person brothers had reportedly been involved in a verbal dispute with one another at a relative's home just before the incident.

After being struck, Lee Person was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where he died from his injuries on March 19.

Lyle Person was initially charged with Death by Auto, Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, as well as numerous other motor vehicle offenses. After his brother died, the charges against Person were upgraded to Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Accident. Consolidated bail on those charges was set at $150,000.

Now that Person has been charged with Murder in addition to the other charges, his bail is at $350,000.

Meanwhile, a woman who assisted Lyle Person in an attempt to conceal his damaged BMW, April N. Palmer, 32, was charged with Obstructing Administration of Law and Hindering Apprehension. Her bail was set at $50,000.

An investigation into the alleged crime continues.
