PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Flyers have signed defenseman Andrew MacDonald to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.

MacDonald, 27 years old, was acquired by the Flyers from the Islanders prior to the March trade deadline.

MacDonald has four assists in nineteen games with the Flyers, and four goals and 24 assists overall this season, his sixth in the NHL.

The new deal, reported to be worth $30 million over six years,  makes MacDonald the 21st highest paid defenseman in the NHL.
