Reading Terminal Market Kicks Off First Ever 'Springfest'

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Reading Terminal Market celebrated spring on Saturday with their first ever Springfest.

"We thought it was time to create a new event and we really like this idea," says marketing and events manager Sarah Levitsky. "We have the capabilities to add more merchants and maybe add some different activities, maybe do some cooking demos in the future."

Kids were included in the fun with music and crafts.

"We have an Easter egg decorating table," Levitsky says, "and that's available for the kids for free."

And of course the highlight of Springfest was the food.

"We've got Jewish brisket and homemade horseradish, some Easter candy," says Levitsky. "We have a shrimp boil which is sort of a Louisiana spring food and lots of spring flavors -- fresh fruits and vegetables and things that will make you think warm weather and springtime."
