New Jersey Police Officer Charged In Dog Attack

BARNEGAT, N.J. (CBS) -- A police officer of the Tuckerton Police Department and his police dog have been removed from duty after investigators say he allowed the K-9 to attack a woman.
It happened at the Municipal Building in Barnegat back in January.
Officer Justin Cherry tried to pull the woman over in Tuckerton, but she didn't stop until she got there, some 15 miles away.
Two Barnegat officers were waiting and arrested the 57-year-old woman. Cherry allegedly was there and allowed police dog Gunner to bite her.
Ocean County Prosecutors say he falsified reports to hide the incident.
Cherry, a six-year veteran, is now facing multiple charges and has been suspended from the department without pay. He's charged with official misconduct and aggravated assault.
Cherry was ordered to turn himself in earlier this week, he has since been released on bail.
CBS 3 was able to reach him, but he chose not to talk about this.
