Facebook adds free calling to Messenger App

Facebook has updated its Messenger app with a major new feature, users can now make free voice calls to their Facebook friends.

When you view Facebook contacts from within Messenger, a phone icon now appears next to their name. To start a call simply tap the icon.

Both participants need to have a wi-fi or data connection to make or receive calls.

Twitter launches Vine Messages

Jumping on the messaging trend, Twitter's six second video app Vine has introduced a new feature.

Vine Messages is a new private messaging system that lets users send video and text messages to anyone on Vine. Users can shoot and share videos with individual or multiple users.

Facebook introduces the privacy dinosaur

Facebook is testing a pop-up reminder that encourages users to pay attention to who they're sharing with on its platform. A blue privacy dinosaur with a laptop accompanies the message.

There hasn't been a change to how privacy or sharing works on Facebook, the social network is just alerting users to the options.
