Coatesville Teen Hit By Stray Bullet

By Diana Rocco

COATESVILLE, Pa. (CBS)The bullet hole in the window is where 14-year-old Victor Wilson was standing when he was shot by a stray bullet.

"We have a report of a number of males in the parking lot area and shots were ringing out," Chief Jack Laufer of Coatesville Police Department said.

Police say the teen who lives at the 500 block of Victoria Drive heard the shots just before 5 p.m. Tuesday and walked to the window when he was hit in the stomach.

"I just heard the three shots, then it stopped for a minute, and started again," neighbor Earlene Jones said. "I said 'that's gunshots,' got my grandson, went to the room, got him on the floor, and called 911."

"Just police everywhere, tape being put up. It was a mess," neighbor Erica Dillard said.

Wilson was rushed to Paoli Hospital while police searched the neighborhood. Chopper 3 shows police bringing witnesses in for questioning.

"It's a shame, I felt for his mother when she came home," Jones said.

Joseph Hanes knows the teen and says he's a good kid and a freshman at Coatesville High School.

"He never got into trouble before, never got arrested before, doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, very good guy," Hanes said.

"I go to work and I come home and my daughter wants to play after school. And it's like, can she go out and play?  It's broad daylight here, and that's scary," Dillard said.

According to Coatesville police department,  the teen is doing well and is listed in stable condition at Paoli Hospital.
