PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Phillies need a lot of things to break the right way to be part of the National League playoff picture this year. Like 2013, there are a lot of “what ifs,” and the fact that a lot of those “what ifs” are a year older makes things seem even less likely.
Some MLB scouts seem skeptical that the Phillies have any chance at all this year.
Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal asked a few MLB scouts about the the team’s outlook for the year.
“They’re awful,” said one unnamed scout. “Painful to watch,” another scout said. “Their window didn’t close slowly — it shut,” a third scout said.
Rosenthal adds that scouts are thinking less about whether the Phillies can make the playoffs, and more about whether they’re even as good as the Marlins.
