Blog: Philly Ranks #31 For Hours Worked

By Jim Donovan: Think that you work hard for your money? Well according to data gathered by Locality.com for one million businesses nationwide, Philadelphia was ranked the #31 hardest working city in the U.S.

To calculate this ranking for more than 50 American cities, Locality.com analyzed the average number of hours that local businesses work each week -- with an emphasis on service-oriented businesses like dry cleaners and hair salons.

Other interesting findings include:

* NYC businesses work an average of 65.9 hours per week. This is 13% higher than the national average.

* For a city that doesn't seem to have off hours, San Francisco is at a surprising #41, with 57.79 hours per week.

* Las Vegas - a city that's open all hours - tends to have harder workers, and comes in at #2 with 64.61 hours worked.

* Boston has the hardest working Dry Cleaners in America - with the highest number of stores (43%) open on Sundays
