Police: 1 Dead In Olney Shooting Near La Salle University

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police are investigating a deadly shooting near La Salle University in Philadelphia’s Olney neighborhood.

It happened just before 4 p.m. Tuesday at the 1900 block of W. Olney Avenue.

Philadelphia Police say the 22-year-old victim was shot in the lower left torso.  He was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the victim is not a student of La Salle University.

Chief Inspector Scott Small says police believe the shooting stemmed from an argument nearby.

W. Olney Avenue is closed between Broad Street and Wister Street as police investigate.

No arrests have been made at this time.
