PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The year’s tenth box office weekend went pretty much as expected with the two new attractions vying for first place.
The historical military epic sequel, 300: Rise of an Empire,
led the way by earning an estimated $45-million, which gave it the top spot on its first weekend of release.
Rounding out the top five were holdovers Non-Stop
, last weekend’s leader, with $15-million; followed by The LEGO Movie
with $11-million; and Son of God
, with $10-million.
Overall, industry-wide totals were slightly below those of a year ago.
