Parking Spot Dispute In Cherry Hill Ends With Finger-Biting Attack
CHERRY HILL, N.J., (CBS) — Cherry Hill Police are investigating after they say a parking dispute turned violent Saturday afternoon.
Police are hoping that surveillance images they released will lead them to two women they’re looking for.
Officers responded at 4:43 p.m. Saturday to the Cherry Hill Mall in the Nordstrom’s parking lot for a parking dispute between two drivers.
“Even during the holidays, when the parking is at a premium, we don’t see something like this,” Cherry Hill Police Lt. Amy Winters said.
According to police, the 42-year-old female victim dropped her friend off at Bahama Breeze and went to look for a parking spot.
Police say the victim was confronted by two females after she parked and got out of her car.
“She pulled in, she didn’t know that anybody else wanted that spot. There was no standoff,” Winters explained.
The verbal altercation quickly turned into a physical altercation.
Police say the victim was bitten by one of the females and a portion of her finger was severely severed.
After the attack, police say the victim followed the suspect into Nordstrom.
“She called 911. She went into the Nordstrom store, she continued to follow her, but lost sight of her,” Winters said.
The victim was taken to Cooper University Hospital where she remains in stable condition. The victim is waiting to find out if a part of her finger has to be amputated.
The suspect is described as a Black female in her mid-thirties, heavy set build with “bushy” hair possibly operating an older model Audi sedan, dark in color.
On Monday, police announced they are now asking for the public’s help in identifying a second female. The second female is described by police as a skinny Black female, wearing a light colored shirt, a dark jacket, and sunglasses. Police say the female entered Nordstrom’s with the alleged assault suspect immediately after the incident occurred.
Anyone that witnessed the dispute or knows the identity of either female is asked to call the Cherry Hill Police Department at (856) 488-7828.
