Dom Giordano Speaks With Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler About The Rise In Heroin Overdoses

By Dom Giordano

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Dom Giordano spoke with Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler on Monday, March 10th on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT about the growing epidemic of heroin addiction in the region.

"We established tip lines; phone, email and a text tip line so that people, and hopefully the young people in the schools, can communicate that information to us completely confidential and anonymous," Heckler said regarding the systems the county now has in place for residents to report drug activity to law enforcement.

"Unfortunately the epidemic is nationwide and Philadelphia, the DEA tells us, had one of the large supplies of high grade heroin, mostly coming in from Mexico, and we have seen deaths go up as a result of drug overdoses and that is what caused us to go back to the drawing board and look at what other things we could do. And we're pursuing, particularly trying to follow up on the overdoses, and in particularly the fatalities. That's yielded one pretty large arrest already of a dealer by the county detectives," he said.
