Camden County Library To Host 'Big Playdate' Later This Month

By Lynne Adkins

VOORHEES, N.J. (CBS) - A local library is holding an event this month to help parents and young children learn the value of play.

Constructive play helps children learn valuable skills, according to Emily Moore the Head of Youth Services at the Voorhees Branch of the Camden County Library. She says the "Big Playdate" will give parents some useful ideas.

"The point of it is to help teach parents and caregivers inexpensive ways to play and to interact with their child not just in ways that are fun but that also encourage learning and development. we hope that caregivers leave empowered with ideas for different ideas they can do at home and more connected to their community and library."

The event is aimed at children between ages 1 and 3.

"We're going to have a big tarp with a lot of shredded paper on it, building blocks that we made from cereal boxes and cracker boxes," Moore said. "We're going have story times, mess free finger painting. It's going to be a lot of fun."

It's Saturday March 29th at 10:30 at the Voorhees library branch, and it's free!
