TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — A New Jersey congressman says the state should allocate more of its federal post-Sandy aid money to rebuilding damaged homes and make the program more transparent.

Rep. Bill Pascrell sent the letter Friday and made it public Monday. He says the state should publicly explain why two contractors on the home-rebuilding program have been terminated.

The state has said that one had performance problems and another is being phased out because there was not enough work for the three firms initially hired for the job.

The Democratic congressman also says the state should review applications of homeworkers denied in the program to make sure they were not shut out improperly.

Spokesman for Republican Gov. Chris Christie did not immediately return a message Monday afternoon.
