Newark, Delaware Announces Snow Removal Emergency Routes

NEWARK, Del. (CBS) - University of Delaware has made its Trabant University Center covered parking garage, located on Main Street, available as alternative parking to residents affected by the activation of the emergency snow removal routes.

Residents may park for free beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday night. Vehicles must be removed by noon on Tuesday, March 4.

Anyone with a car parked on one of the designated emergency snow removal streets is encouraged to begin making temporary parking arrangements in advance of the start of the snow.  Failure to remove your vehicle from the street may result in your car being towed at your expense.

Residents are also reminded that they are responsible for the removal of snow from their sidewalk within 24 hours after the end of the snow event.

Snow Removal Emergency Route

-Academy Street - East Main Street to East Park Place.

-Casho Mill Road - Elkton Road to Nottingham Road (within city limits).

-East and West Cleveland Avenue - Entire length.

-East and West Delaware Avenue - Entire length.

-East and West Main Street (Nottingham Road) - Entire length.

-East and West Park Place - Entire length.

-Elkton Road - Entire length in city.

-Hillside Road - New London Road to West Main Street.

-Holton Place - Old South College Avenue to city maintenance yard.

-Lovett Avenue, from Academy Street to Haines Street.

-New London Road - Entire length in city.

-North Chapel Street and Paper Mill Road - Entire length in city.

-Phillips Avenue - Ritter Lane to city maintenance yard.

-South Chapel Street - East Main Street to East Park Place.

-South College Avenue - Entire length.

-Stanford Drive - Country Club Drive to Locust Drive.
