HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) — Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett underwent minor outpatient surgery in Pittsburgh Thursday morning.
Corbett underwent outpatient surgery to repair an abdominal hernia at Allegheny General Surgical Center in Pittsburgh.
A spokesman says the routine procedure was successful and that the governor is recovering comfortably.
A statement released by his office said he would recuperate at his home in suburban Pittsburgh over the weekend and return to Harrisburg on Monday.
The statement says recent physical examinations have shown the 64-year-old Corbett to be in excellent health. This is the second time the governor has had surgery since taking office, the first being back surgery in May 2011.
