Prom Dress Giveaway Puts Smiles On Faces Of Some Lucky Girls In Delaware County

SPRINGFIELD, Pa. (CBS) -- A Delaware County dress shop made some young ladies very happy Sunday morning with a free prom dress giveaway.
Dresses were on the house for the first 25 girls who walked into Zinni's of Philadelphia on Baltimore Pike in Springfield.
"We see a lot of girls that come in here during the week that cannot afford to buy a dress," said owner Carolyn Zinni, "and they're asking me if they can do layaway or can put like $15 down at a time."
As a mother of all boys, Zinni said it's an incredible feeling to help make these girls feel beautiful.
"That's great for me," she said. "I don't have any daughters of my own, so each time I dress a young lady and she gives me a big smile, I almost feel like it's a personal thing for me."
Ridley High School student Danielle found a stunning pink gown.
"All I could do is thank her and appreciate what she's doing for girls who really have trouble with money," said Danielle. "I thought I was going to have to pay over $200, but I got one for free and it's the best feeling in the world."
Now Danielle begins the search for the perfect pair of shoes.
Zinni said this is just one way to say thanks to the customers who have kept her family's business running for 70 years.
