Police: 2 Arrested For Allegedly Stuffing Woman In Trash Can During Attempted Abduction

CAMDEN, N.J., (CBS) – Authorities say two men have been arrested for allegedly attempting to abduct a woman, less than a block from Camden's City Hall, by stuffing her into a trash can.

Hasian Womack, 35, of Philadelphia, and Willie Dennis, 24, of Indiana, Pa., were arrested Wednesday morning in Pennsylvania, Camden County Police said.

It happened Jan. 21 at 9:30 a.m. at the Zoujati Salon in the unit block of N. 6th Street in Camden (See Previous Story).

Police say Womack and Dennis, dressed in dark full-body robes and head coverings, entered the salon where a female employee, the former girlfriend of Womack, was alone inside the salon.

According to police, the pair then allegedly showed the woman that they had a weapon, restrained her with plastic zip ties and duct tape and forced her into a trash can.

But police say as they began pushing the trash can with the victim inside towards a white van, something spooked them and they took off, leaving the woman who suffered minor injuries still in the container.

"I want to thank all of our partner agencies – the Philadelphia Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police, Indiana Borough Police Department, FBI, U.S. Marshals, Philadelphia-Camden HIDTA task force, Philadelphia District Attorney's Office and the Camden County Prosecutor's Office – for their hard work in helping to identify and apprehend these violent individuals. These arrests would not have happened without the tremendous collaborative effort that went into this investigation," said Chief J. Scott Thomson in a release.

Womack and Dennis are charged with Kidnapping, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

Both suspects are being held in Pennsylvania awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
