Camden County Man Found Guilty Of 2008 Murder Of Rutgers Student

LINDENWOLD, NJ (CBS) – A Lindenwold man has been found guilty of murdering the mother of his child, a 22-year-old Rutgers student, back in 2008.

A jury convicted 39-year-old Troy Whye of Murder and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in connection with the stabbing death of Krystal Skinner.

Although Whye was previously found guilty of Skinner's murder in November of 2010, issues over the instructions given to the jury at the time forced the court to reverse the conviction and remand the case for new trial.

Now, Whye has been found guilty again of stabbing Skinner approximately 30 times in the hallway of her home at the Laurel Hill Apartments in Lindenwold. Officials say the couple's two-year-old son was present at the time of the murder.

The child was left with the body of his mother and was found sitting beside her and stroking her hair hours later.

Sentencing for Whye is scheduled for April 11, 2014.
