Camden Ranks Most Dangerous City In The Country

CAMDEN, NJ (CBS) – The 2014 list of the country's most dangerous cities has been released, and the news is not good for Camden.

The crime-ridden metropolis came in number one on the list, which was compiled using FBI data from 2012.

"'For too long, Camden has been one of the most dangerous cities in New Jersey, and in America,' said Governor Chris Christie in his State of the State Address this year. He wasn't kidding," CNNMoney writes of the city.

According to the list, Camden has the highest crime rate of any city with a population over 75,000 -- beating out places like Flint and Detroit, in Michigan, and nearby Newark, New Jersey.

Still, there is a ray of hope for the South Jersey city: The homicide rate dropped in 2013 and violent crime fell 38% in January year-over-year.
