Hicks' 27 Points Shoots Penn Past Cornell, 90-83

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Tony Hicks scored 27 points as crisp-shooting Pennsylvania turned away visiting Cornell in the 100-year-old series, 90-83 Friday night.

Hicks shot 9 of 13 from the field and 8 of 9 from the line, scoring 13 first-half points to help the Quakers to a 50-32 lead at intermission. Penn shot 61 percent from the field (33 of 54) and was 21 of 28 from the line.

A year ago the teams split their home-and-home series, with each winning on the road. Penn leads the series, which dates back to the 1903-04 season, 147-74.

Miles Jackson-Cartwright scored 19 points for Penn (5-13, 2-2 Ivy), with Fran Dougherty adding 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Nolan Cressler scored 22 points and Darryl Smith and Devin Cherry added 15 points each to lead Cornell (1-18, 0-5), which now has an 11-game Ivy League losing streak and a 14-game road losing streak.
