Lower Merion Suspends Wednesday Trash Pickup

LOWER MERION, Pa. (CBS) – In anticipation of yet another winter weather event, Lower Merion Township has suspended trash collection on Wednesday.

Instead, crews will report to work on Saturday, Feb. 8th to collect trash and recycling from residents.

"This is a safety issue, coming on the heels of the significant snowfall on Monday," said Bob Duncan, Acting Township Manager. "Having additional refuse staff help with snow- and ice-clearing operations will get the streets and sidewalks cleared faster, and free up traffic lanes and roadways for emergency services purposes."

Residents and businesses with rear-yard and rear-alley pickup are asked to place all trash and recycling curbside this week. Driveways and walkways must be cleared of ice and snow.
