Man Shot Chasing Girlfriend's Purse Snatcher In North Philly; 2 Arrested

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Two suspects are facing charges in a purse snatching that ended with the victim's boyfriend being shot as he chased one of the robbers.

The victim, who asked we not disclose her identity, told CBS 3's Walt Hunter she was leaving her boyfriend's apartment near 27th and Lehigh in North Philadelphia when a thief snatched her purse.

Moments later, her boyfriend 24-year-old Derrick Moye, started chasing the suspect, when a second robber ambushed him, pulled a gun, and shot him in the chest.

Moye was rushed to Temple University Hospital and now is in good condition.

The two suspects, 26-year-old Rasheed Hall and 20-year-old Clinton Brown, were arrested minutes after the attack. Hall is facing charges of aggravated assault, robbery and related offenses. Brown is charged with attempted aggravated assault, robbery and related offenses.

The pair will also be questioned by homicide detectives about the murder of Amber Long, who was gunned down in front of her mother during a purse snatching in Northern Liberties two weeks ago (See Related Story).

Records show the two suspects have a total of 14 prior arrests.
