Authorities Investigate 3 Suspected Storm-Related Deaths In Delaware County

RIDLEY Twp., Pa., (CBS) -- Police in Delaware County are investigating the deaths of three people who were found outside during dangerous temperatures Wednesday.

"At first I was in shock I guess because my husband and my son came in and said, 'Mom, they found a dead body,'" eyewitness Dawn Heart said.

"There was police on the other side of Dale Road, and I also saw an ambulance," eyewitness Sue Shaika said.

Shocked and confused Sue Shaika and neighbors say they watched nervously as crews removed a body from a field across the street in the 900 block of Dale Road.

"It's sad, it's very sad," Heart said.

Then, a third man, a 67-year-old was also found dead outside his Swarthmore home Wednesday morning and sources say all three cases are now being investigated to see if their deaths are weather-related.

"My condolences to the family, this is a very tragic thing that happened," Shaika said.

Autopsies are scheduled to determine the causes of death.

Names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of relatives.
