Phillies Re-Sign John Mayberry Jr.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Phillies have re-signed outfielder John Mayberry Jr., to a one year contract, avoiding arbitration.

Mayberry, 30 years old, will earn just over $1.5 million in 2014 for the Phillies.

Mayberry has played in parts of five MLB seasons, all with the Phillies, playing every outfield position and first base. He hit .227 with 11 home runs and 39 RBIs in 384 plate appearances in 2013.

Mayberry is a lifetime .245 hitter with a lifetime OPS of .734.
