Roller-Coaster Weather Plunge Ahead: From Upper 50s to Single Digits in 24 Hours

By Mark Abrams

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — It felt downright balmy this morning, but there’s going to be a dramatic change in the weather by tonight.

Commuters will have to brace for a taste of the Arctic freeze now gripping the midwest.

Temperatures, in the upper 50s this morning, will be in the low 30s — and plunging — by tonight’s evening rush hour.

Greg, of  Northeast Philadelphia, was waiting for his bus this morning in center city and still wearing the layers of clothing that he normally does on a winter day.

“You gotta stay ahead of the weather, and you gotta keep from getting sick,” he said.  “So, that’s the bottom line on that.”

Greg says it was inevitable a bitter cold snap would catch up to us. He says the mild winters we’ve seen here the past couple of years had to end at some point.
