Eagles Fans Stock Up On Green Gear To Stay Warm At The Game

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Eagles fans are flying high ahead of the wild card clash, despite our bitterly cold weather.

Many are rushing to make sure they have enough green gear to stay warm at the game tomorrow.

Cashiers are ringing up customers non-stop as Eagles fans rush into I. Goldberg's with a mission.

"We got to be warm for the game tomorrow," Eagles fan Jerry Horn said.

Colton and Jerry Horn were supposed to be out of town Saturday, but now they're here and even scored some tickets.

"We got lucky, and we know it'll be cold. We don't care, we'll be good," Jerry said.

But just in case, they're not taking any chances.

"That's why I'm here, get as many layers as possible so the weather isn't an issue," Colton said.

So what's enough to stay warm? First you need some thermals.

"It has wool, so it's a double layer," an employee said.

Then an insulated sweater or vest, topped with a warm overcoat that won't get wet.

"I think you've got yourself covered, but I also would suggest to have sock liners and then over top of the sock liners, wear socks, and of course warm boots, no sneakers," Tom Egolf of I. Goldberg Army & Navy said.

And don't forget a wool hat, hand warmers, glove liners and even thick gloves, something experts tell CBS 3 is crucial.

"Any bare skin should be covered," Egolf said.

And for those who want to be extra prepared, there's always this.

"It's basically a head piece so the only thing open is my eyes. I don't know how it looks, but it's comfortable," Eagles fan Eric Solenberger said.

Comfort being important, but don't forget there is one thing you shouldn't do.

"Please do not wear sneakers," Egolf said.
