Drexel Edged By Buffalo 55-52
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Javon McCrea scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Buffalo defeated Drexel 55-52 in a see-saw contest on Sunday.
Neither team shot particularly well in the low-scoring game that saw eight ties and 13 lead changes. McCrea shot 8 of 13 from the field and made more than a third of his team's field goals. The Bulls (6-4) shot 21 of 59 from the field while Drexel (8-4) connected on 19 of 58.
McCrea scored 16 points after halftime, including two quick buckets to give Buffalo a 28-27 lead. The lead changed hands nine times in the second half. A 7-1 run with consecutive buckets from McCrea and Joshua Freelove, plus a 3-pointer from Shannon Evans, put the Bulls up for keeps at 49-44 with 4:46 to play.
Allen Tavon led Drexel with 14 points and scored the only 3-pointer in 14 team tries.
