2013 IN REVIEW: West Philadelphia Abortion Doctor Gets Life Sentence

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- He was the master of the house of horrors. Abortion clinic owner Kermit Gosnell is now serving a life sentence for his crimes of murder and butchery.
Words cannot describe, nor would they be acceptable here if they existed to faithfully describe, what happened at Dr. Kermit Gosnell's foul, bloody, ghastly clinic. Living, breathing, crying, squirming babies were routinely murdered.
It was so disturbing that the trial judge offered counseling to jurors after the trial.
Philadelphia DA Seth Williams says, simply, Gosnell was a monster:
"Doctor Kermit Gosnell will never again perform any type of medical procedure there or anywhere else on our planet. It's very sad -- every time you drive by that facility, if you know what occurred there, how for decades young women who were desperate went there and how they were preyed upon by him for greed."
Gosnell avoided a possible death penalty, by agreeing to give up his appeal rights.
