Herb Garden Makes Gift Giving Easy
By Phran Novelli
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - If you need a gift in a hurry, even just to bring to a party, here's an idea if you grew some herbs this year. If you still have some growing on the windowsill, you can cut some plugs out to replant in a pretty pot.
A pot of mint makes a nice gift alone or with a tin of cocoa or a bottle of rum depending on the beverage your friend might like to mix with the mint. You can also pot up multiple herbs that work well together in a recipe - like oregano and basil for pizza.
If you dried some herbs last summer, you can fill little babyfood jars with them and add a nice label. Or, put seeds you saved in tiny envelopes or wrap them in packets of pretty paper to give to friends who like to garden - or include planting instructions for people who've said they want to start planting some stuff.
Gardens really are gifts that keep on growing and giving.
