PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Four people were injured after a police chase ended with a chain reaction car crash Saturday afternoon in the Fairhill section of Philadelphia.

The incident began around noon when police stopped to talk to a driver blocking an intersection. The suspect drove off and police followed.

During the chase, the 39-year-old suspect reportedly threw a baggy out the window, which officers retrieved and say contained drugs inside.

Moments later, the suspect crashed into a car making a U-turn at the intersection of Lehigh Avenue and B Street. Both vehicles flew in different directions and hit several parked cars.

One of the cars hit a woman unloading her car near the sidewalk. She suffered a broken leg.

Three other people, including the suspect, were taken to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

The suspect is currently in police custody. The incident remains under investigation.
